Is There Such A Thing As A Woman’s Car Insurance Policy?

By Sharon Gibson Posted in Car Insurance News

When it comes to car insurance policies, men and women are not created equal. Typically, women’s car insurance policies are cheaper than those for men, and there are a number of reasons why.

Women Keep The Pedal Off The Metal

Statistics show that women drive slower than men, which means they tend to get fewer speeding tickets. Women also tend to get in fewer accidents than men, which may or may not be related to speed. For this reason, women make fewer claims, which keeps their premiums on auto insurance low.

Women Typically Don’t Throw Caution To The Wind

When it comes to taking chances behind the wheel, women fall way behind men. While just about everyone is guilty of aggressive driving at one time or another, statistics show that men drive aggressively much more frequently than women. A woman’s cautious nature may benefit her when it comes to safe driving, and therefore to car insurance costs.

So is there such a thing as a woman’s car insurance policy? Not specifically, but there is definitely a difference when it comes to auto insurance costs for women versus men. Auto insurance companies take into consideration gender when offering quotes. Women will find that, if they have good driving records, their auto insurance policy rates will be lower than men’s.

Of course, this doesn’t give a woman license to drive recklessly and make a high number of insurance claims. A poor driving record will result in higher premiums, no matter the driver’s gender. So it is wise for a woman to take advantage of excellent auto insurance policy rates and to drive sensibly to ensure that her rates will remain affordable.
