New Minimum Texas State Requirements For El Paso Auto Insurance

By Lisa Olsen Posted in Car Insurance News

Do you live in El Paso, TX? Is your car properly insured, according to the new state regulations? In El Paso, TX as with all of Texas, the auto insurance limits will be changing, as of January 1, 2011.

As of right now, auto insurance limits in El Paso, TX are 25/50/25. That equals out to a minimum liability coverage of $25,000 per injured person, $50,000 for everyone injured in an accident, and $25,000 for property damage. The reason for these limits is because Texas law requires that a person may not operate a motor vehicle, in the state, unless financial responsibility has been established for that vehicle. In another words, you have to be financially responsible for any injuries, or damages, that may be caused in an accident.

TexaSure

The state of Texas, recently implemented a program called TexaSure. TexaSure is a easy way for law enforcement officers, and certain state workers, to immediately verify whether a vehicle is insured, or uninsured. This system has made auto insurance in El Paso, TX to be free of fraud. No longer can fraudulent, or false proof of insurance be claimed. TexaSure is fast, easy, and will keep the unsafe drivers off the road.

Starting January 1, 2011 the new auto insurance limits will be 30/60/25. That means you will need to have auto insurance coverage that is equal to $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 for everyone injured in an accident, and $25,000 for property damage. While these increases seem like a lot, they really do not add that much to your auto insurance bill. If you implement them now, before the deadline, then you can get adjusted to the increase, and work it into your budget.
