My sentiment exactly,
"There is no incentive for insurance companies to do what is right, such as live up to the promises made in their policies. Tort reformers fueled by insurance money think big business and the insurance industry need to be protected against "runaway juries." It's the other way around. Big business and the insurance industry have always been able to take care of themselves. The little people need protection from them. This country was founded on the common law right of the little guy to get into court with his hired gun to fight the oppressor, be it big government or big business. Take that away and we have nothing left. Look around. It's being whittled away, bit by bit, caps on damages here, restrictions on jury trials there. It won't end until we recognize the enemy and join together to take a stand against them. It will take the little people to do this together".

Whole life is more expensive because you pay level premiums for life. You overpay in your early years, then after age 70, you underpay. In the first several years, the cash value build up is not very much, due to agent commissions and fees. At age 40, a term policy for a healthy male, on a 20-year level term, is about $.70 per thousand. A whole life policy on the same individual is about $13-$14 per thousand. In 95% of situations, most people can't afford whole life. If you take someone who makes $50,000 or $60,000 per year, and needs $1 million dollars in coverage, and is age 40, can he really afford $13,000 or $14,000 per year after-tax money going into a whole life policy. Most likely not, but they still need the $1 million coverage. The most important thing is to make sure that you have the correct death benefit to protect your family in the event of a premature death. If you have the money and can afford a permanent plan, then it would be worth the purchase.$

The only way Toyota is going to be able to save "face" is to offer everyone who bought a Corolla - a FULL refund for their vehicle.

We have had a Health Savings Account for the last two years. The first year is a little scary when you don't have funds built up, but after that it's great. We spend about $300 less per month on insurance than we used to and now we have more services ( dental, eye care etc ) than we had with our old PPO plan.

I would strongly suggest a High Deductible Health Plan & HSA for young families who are financially strapped due to high health insurance costs. It's been a huge money saver for us!

Wow! It is amazing how absolutely wrong you are. The Republicans tactics hurting them? Let's ask the voters on Mass. or how about asking them in Virginia or CT. You have been proven wrong at every turn. You point to Canada and the UK as bastions of a perfect health care system we should strive to be like. Why don't you ask the residents of those countries how they feel about their universal options. The very fact you are willing to sign away all of our freedoms in order to line your own pockets makes everything you say suspect.

It's important too not to compromise coverage like limits of liability for a smaller premium. I work with an agent to make sure my coverages are adequate for my family and I. I find that when I go to do online quotes they'll quote me at state minimums for coverages. Where I'm at now for coverages is something that I've come up with by working with a professional insurance agent that fits exactly what our needs are.

My Declaration

I, Brian McCrary will NOT comply with this new Healthcare bill as law, nor will I abide by it. If for some reason I fall outside having Health Insurance, I will not be paying the penalty, fine or tax, and I will not go to jail for not doing so, come what may. I will not be forced to pay for a product by the Federal Government or anyone else. That is simply nothing but extortion.

Welcome to the Resistance!

Robert,

Your article is grossly misleading. Since the dawn of managed care penetration , the allowable amounts being paid to physicians have been going down. Physicians have been paid less for their work for the past 20 years, but their take home pay has actually risen. How is that? It's because medical practices are operated like any other industry; they learn to adapt by operating leaner and diversifying business lines. So, when you opine that physicians are being paid less and no one will want to go into the profesion is false. What is a fair wage to be a medical doctor? If you compare salaries to physicians in other countries, then the pay scale is very high. My point is, years from now, new residents coming into private practice will not know what "the good old days" were like.
