The National Association Of Insurance And Financial Advisers, One Of The Largest Insurance Organizations

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers is a nationwide organization founded in 1890, and was formally known as the National Association of Life Underwriters. It was originally established in Boston MA and later relocated to New York NY in 1928 before finally being transferred to Washington DC in 1956. NAIFA is one of the biggest and oldest insurance organizations currently in existence.

NAIFA represents nearly 200,000 insurance agents and is made up of more than 700 individual associations. Life insurance, annuities, multiline, financial investments and advising, health insurance, and employee benefits are among the major areas of focus for the NAIFA organization.

The NAIFA Is Committed To Establishing Positive Legislation For The Insurance Industry

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers’ primary goal is to encourage Washington and other lawmakers to establish legislation that they feel is positive for the insurance industry. Setting up a regulatory environment that is favorable towards insurers is thought to be essential in improving business practices and encouraging company growth. Further, the NAIFA fights to enhance the professional and business skills of its members, and ensures that its 200,000 insurance agents up hold ethical standards.

According to the NAIFA Mission Statement found on their official website, “The mission of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers is to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills, and promote the ethical conduct of our members.”

The members of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers have also played an active role in community outreach since 1956. For more than fifty years NAIFA members have been conducting community service programs in order to improve lives throughout the country. AIDS awareness, youth education, crisis relief, and drug and alcohol awareness are among a few prominent social matters that NAIFA has social programs set up to address. The organization’s social outreach achievements have been recognized six times by previous presidential administrations.
